ProStart is a high school program that introduces students to careers in the culinary, restaurant, and hospitality industries. Students build hands-on skills in cooking, food safety, teamwork, customer service, and management while gaining experience that can help prepare them for careers or life!Each March, South Dakota ProStart students have the opportunity to compete in the South Dakota ProStart Competition in Pierre. Students compete in Culinary Arts, Restaurant Management, and Cake Decorating. Students must be enrolled in a Culinary Arts class to attend and participate in the yearly competition in Pierre. The competition allows students to showcase their skills, work as a team, and the opportunity to advance to national competition.
